Our Commitment to Sustainability
At Lamari, sustainability is not just a practice — it’s at the core of who we are.
Most of our wood comes from trees that have naturally completed their life cycle: those that fell on their own, were affected by fire, extreme weather, or were removed due to other environmental circumstances. These natural events do not compromise the quality of our materials. Every slab is carefully inspected, dried, and selected to meet our highest standards — ensuring strength, stability, and beauty in every piece.
The Environmental Value of Wood
We believe these trees deserve a second life — transformed with care into meaningful, lasting pieces.
Even after being crafted, wood continues to store carbon, making it not only durable and beautiful, but also an environmentally conscious material that contributes to long-term sustainability. A single solid wood table can retain 20 to 50 kg of CO₂, depending on the species and size — keeping that carbon sequestered for generations.
By choosing wood, you’re not only embracing nature — you’re actively participating in a circular, responsible approach to design.
We are proud to have received recognition from the Oficina Nacional Forestal (ONF) and the Ministerio de Ambiente y Energía (MINAE) of Costa Rica, acknowledging our commitment to using legally certified and sustainably managed wood. This endorsement underscores our dedication to transparency, environmental responsibility, and respect for natural resources.
Why Costa Rica is Unique
- Over 35% of Costa Rica’s territory is protected land — national parks and nature reserves.
- There is zero commercial deforestation — every tree removed, even on private land, requires official authorization.
- Forest cover in Costa Rica stands strong at 52%, with a net deforestation rate of 0%.
Crafted with Purpose and Care
•Every slab is hand-selected for its unique story — from grain to character.
•We embrace natural features like knots, cracks, and voids, celebrating the individuality of each piece.
•Wood undergoes a minimum of 3 months in a sepia kiln, ensuring dimensional stability and long-term durability.
•Final pieces are crafted to last a lifetime — functional, sculptural, and uniquely alive
Thoughtful Packaging, Real Priorities
Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond the product itself. Whenever possible, we use recycled or reused cardboard for packaging. So if your box doesn’t look perfect on the outside — don’t worry.
What truly matters is what’s inside: a carefully crafted, premium piece made with purpose and respect.
Because to us, sustainability is the highest expression of good design.
